Mercenary Oilfield Case Study

Rebranding and Promotional Video for a new oilfield services company.

Mercenary Oilfield Services was referred to Avatti through a long-time friend. With aspirations of creating an international service company in the energy industry, we knew we had our work cut out for us. Not only was the name of the company a challenge to work with, the scope of the vision they had for it meant we would have to do a fair amount of heavy lifting in order to help them achieve their goals. 
We began by doing a deep-dive into the energy industry. What were the hallmarks of this industries aesthetic, and could we help this company create a look that would both represent their values and mission while helping them look the part of an international oilfield service company.
As we started we knew that the one thing we wanted to achieve was making this company look like it had been around for longer than it had been. So we began exploring oilfield aesthetics from the 70's in order to find our bearings for this project.
After quite a few explorations, we wound up striking oil with the exact balance needed. Next it was time for the colours, and we decided to use bold primary colours that where already synonymous with the oil & gas industry. 
Finally, we created some brand collaterals including Business Cards and Pitch Decks, and then it was on to the video. We wrote the script, got the voiceover work done by the perfect voice actor, and created a video that blended important messaging around the brand ethos and the goals this company had for themselves. 
The project included Rebranding and Brand Collaterals, and Video Production.

OVERVIEW

The Results

The new Mercenary Oilfield logo features a blend of 70's era typography and minimalist decorative aesthetics. The design communicates the strength and dedication to hard work that they are now known for. The logo features a stylized wordmark with the brand name in a font that blends serif and sans serif elements together with a stylized M for the emblem, representing both their capacity for work, and the M for Mercenary. The colour scheme conveys strength under pressure with a harmonious blend of blue with red accents.
